November 2011 Update-  CISC fed 99,312 people from January 1 to October 31. 2011.  CISC saw an average of 119 new families each month (first time applicants). Of those helped 35,989 were children helped with the Back Pack Buddies plan to local schools.

To our donors:  We thank you sincerely. Your donations and the volunteer efforts of all have truly made a difference in the lives of many. This week we were able to feed thousands  of Angelina County citizens.

There is no reason for anyone in Angelina County to be hungry because CISC will give them food.  Some people come only once because they had an emergency that took all their food money.  Some elderly run out of money because of medicine bills, etc. and need to come more often.  CISC is here to help.

The major assistance of CISC is free food.  Additional assistance is given with weekend food for children as Back Pack Buddies, sleeping bags for the homeless, gas vouchers to help people go to out of town doctors and hospitals, bus tickets to help the hurting go home, and energy aid for those about to be disconnected.  People requesting aid are interviewed by trained volunteers.  Once the needs are identified, direct help is given or appropriate referrals are made.

We consulted with many and were able to help in many ways. Your donations made this possible, and are greatly appreciated.

Cash to CISC enables us to get the required food that we give away from the East Texas Food Bank in Tyler.  For example a 39 cent can of vegetables costs us only about 13 cents through the Food Bank.  CISC gave out 3 million pounds of food in 2010 and fed 15,000 people.

  Sincerely,
All those at CISC who are working to make a difference for Christ in our community
